Ingredients

  • 2poundschicken gizzards

  • 1tablespoonchili powder, or more to taste

  • 1 ½teaspoonsground cumin

  • 2dasheshot sauce

  • salt and ground black pepper to taste

  • 1smallonion, diced

  • 1smallbell pepper, diced

  • 1(10.5 ounce) cancondensed cream of mushroom soup

  • 1(10 ounce) candiced tomatoes with green chile peppers (such as RO*TEL®)

  • 1(16 ounce) containersour cream

Cooking Directions

  1. Trim and discard as much connective tissue from gizzards as possible. Place gizzards in a slow cooker and season with chili powder, cumin, hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Add onion and bell pepper.

  2. Mix condensed soup and diced tomatoes with chile peppers together in a bowl. Pour over the gizzards.

  3. Cook on High until fork-tender, 3 to 4 hours. Stir in sour cream and cook for 15 to 20 more minutes.

Cook’s Note

You can use cream of chicken soup instead of cream of mushroom soup. Hot sauce is optional.
